I know I've read Tanya Huff in the past but it's been years. At first, the cover and title drew me to this book and I am really really happy that they did.

This story was absolutely amazing. The lead heroine, Mirian, was quick witted, smart and amazingly resolute. Loved her character. I also loved how the Alpha Mage, Danika, was able to keep her group secure and thinking even in the mist of their own personal hell.

For the male leads, I almost wish so many of them didn't go in the beginning, but that would have changed the story too much. Losing them, really built the rest of what was to happen. And those remaining, Thomas (specifically), was young and fresh but also battle worn and instinctive. He is such a good balance to Mirian, even though a lot of it was frustrating! But in a good way.

I really want to read what happens next. It was heart breaking and inspiring, fast paced and non stop pulling towards the unfolding of events. This was a complicated story with many emotions and moving parts.

This is a very unique novel.

Using a composition of spy themes, fantasy, Arthurian genre, and to be honest probably a multitude of others - the author expertly breathes life into this story and the characters. It was intriguing, intricate and I did not know what to expect next while reading it. You don't get lost, even though so much is going on and situations will just pop into a scene, but it's like a potato chip - you can never just have one. You have to keep reading just to see what happens next. It was exciting to read as the author continuously pulls you further into the story.

This is an exquisitely well written novel. The concept is amazing, I loved how so many elements got blended but not dissipated at all.

You can tell there is room for the story to continue, and the way it was written you want to read what is next.

Book Review: Scent of Magic by Maria V. Snyder

Scent of Magic by Maria V. Snyder

I really liked Scent of Magic.

Like the previous book in this series, Touch Of Power, the characters, the multi-plots going on, the magic and the world building are all just incredible. The author is an amazing writer.

It was a great combination of relationships (with a hint of love), action and good old fantasy. I think one of favorite aspects of this series are the Death and Peace Lilies. There is something about them that really intrigues me.

I can't wait to see what happens in the next novel.

Book Review: The First Confessor (The Legend of Magda Searus) by Terry Goodkind

The First Confessor by Terry Goodkind

This is basically the Prequel to his Sword of Truth series. It was also a seriously incredible read.

The story was intriguing, the characters such a good blend that you fell into the book and became part of it along with them. I could not put it down. I didn't want this book to end. I want more!

Terry Goodkind showed he is a master story teller once again in this novel. He draws you in and hooks you on the amazingly entertaining and moving story and you can't but help become wrapped up and woven into it.

This is the type of book that makes you want to read more.
